Managing Director Yuya KITAHIRA
Born in Miyazaki City, Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan in November 1980. Graduated from the Faculty of Engineering at Gifu University, and later completed postgraduate studies at the Graduate School of Engineering at Gifu University. After working for a decade at an electronic components manufacturer, relocated to Takayama City, Gifu Prefecture in 2017, where his wife’s family resides.
His passion for mountaineering ignited in June 2010 when he climbed Mount Ibuki. Initially aspiring to conquer the Hyakumeizan (100 Famous Mountains), he shifted his focus to rock climbing in November 2011 and became deeply immersed in the sport. In September 2014, he became captivated by wide cracks after attending a seminar conducted by renowned climber Yusuke Sato.
In August 2017, he left his job of 10 years and spent 38 days exclusively climbing wide cracks in Wyoming, USA, renowned as the mecca of wide crack climbing.
In November 2018, he achieved the first ascent of Japan’s most challenging wide crack, “Fudou no Ken”.
In April 2021, he began working at the Calafate Kawakami Store located in Kawakami Village, Nagano Prefecture.
In October 2022, he attempted the world’s most difficult wide crack, the Century Crack 5.14b, located in Canyonlands National Park, USA. To document this attempt, he raised approximately 2 million yen through crowdfunding on social media. The footage of his attempt is available for viewing on his YouTube channel. His dream is to climb wide cracks all over the world.
